Airing Grandmother's Quilts by Barbara Griffin. Washing and drying grandmother's quilts after a long, cold winter season is a spring ritual in many rural households. Grandmother used what was available to make her traditional block, homemade quilts and that could be anything from old curtains to tablecloths and blankets or out-grown clothes.
