Description
Woodcutters and Black Lab by Barbara Griffin. A spring ritual in olden days was to cut wood and stack it to dry over the summer so that it would be perfect for burning during the next winter to heat the home. Often the trip 'in the woods' was an all day endeavor and involved having a lunch, which was called a 'mug up' with a hot cup of tea. The lunch was probably a piece of home made bread with molasses. After all day cutting and hauling wood, those fellows were ready to go home to a good home cooked meal.
