Description
Haymaker with Pitchfork by Barbara Griffin. An old haymaker is turning hay to dry in the hot sun. The Newfoundland pioneer was a "Jack of all Trades". Along with being husband, father and grandfather, he was fisherman, farmer, carpenter, veterinarian, blacksmith, hunter, gardener, and sometimes doctor. This image was painted from a black and white photograph taken in 1967 in rural Newfoundland.
