Skating on Pond Garden by Barbara Griffin. As young children we skated on any frozen patch of ice. High seas fills the little pond and when it became very cold, the salty water froze enough for us to enjoy an evening skating after school. Adults checked the ice for us before we were allowed on it even though it was a very shallow pond. I think this painting has a Currier and Ives flavor.
